This thesis focuses on the elaboration and subsequent comparison of the Russian and Czech reception of the prose The Blind Musician by Russian writer Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko. The first chapters contain a brief treatise on the life and work of the author and a brief outline of the content of The Blind Musician. However, the main focus is the elaboration and description of the reception of the selected work, both in the periodic and later criticisms. Firstly, a Russian reception is being elaborated, in which we can see the views and criticisms concerning the main psychological motive of the etudes, the social aspects of the work, and the sounds and the music. This is followed by the processing of the Czech reception, which was heavily influenced by various translation methods and is mainly focused on the artwork of the work itself. In the conclusion is reception of both countries summarized and compared. Keywords: Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko, Russian literature, literary criticism, reception studies, The Blind Musician
